English for Academic Purposes - focus on listening and conversation B2/S3

This is a conversational course that primarily aims to help students to expand their vocabulary and improve their listening skills at B2 level through selected topics from a variety of scientific disciplines and inspirational videos that encourage discussion. Each week, students listen to a TED Talk of their choice and share the main ideas of the lecture with their classmates at the beginning of the lesson. The course participants will be introduced to the academic word list; a list of 570 most commonly found words in academic texts. Although this course focuses mainly on the development of language skills for communication in the academic context, the course is also suitable for any student who wants to improve their speaking and listening skills and is interested in contemporary social science issues.
